Mark Black is a husband, father of three, entrepreneur, and longtime Dieppe resident. Over the past 20 years, Mark has built a successful business from scratch and sustained it through changing markets, economic uncertainty, and the everyday demands of leadership. That experience has taught him how to make sound decisions, manage competing priorities, and focus on results that last. Those are valuable skills for a city councillor.
Mark's perspective has also been shaped by personal adversity. Born with a life-threatening illness, he received a heart and double-lung transplant in 2002, an experience that gave him a profound appreciation for resilience, responsibility, and the power of community.
Mark later became the first person in history to run a marathon with someone else's heart and lungs — an achievement that reflects the determination and discipline he brings to every part of life. He is running for council because Dieppe is growing and changing, and he believes the city needs steady, thoughtful leadership grounded in both lived experience and practical judgment. Beyond business, Mark has a strong record of community service — including board roles with La Maison des Jeunes and Atlantic Wellness, and a term as National President of the Canadian Association of Professional Speakers — reflecting his ongoing commitment to giving back in meaningful ways.
Over a decade living and raising a family here.
Extensive experience growing and leading businesses.
Committed to bringing people together for a stronger Dieppe.
Representing all of Dieppe — every voice, every neighbourhood.
Dieppe is one of the fastest-growing cities in Atlantic Canada — up 20% in just three years. Growth is good, but only if we manage it well, with smart planning, strong infrastructure, and housing that keeps pace with demand.
A thriving Dieppe means a thriving economy. We need to support the businesses that create jobs, attract new investment, and keep our community growing — sustainably and smartly.
Dieppe has transformed into one of the most diverse communities in Atlantic Canada. That is a strength. I am committed to building a city where every resident — regardless of background, language, or culture — feels truly at home.
